Más de 1700 guarderías a nivel nacional cierran sus puertas hoy. Protestan por los altos costos y bajos sueldos en el sector del cuidado infantil en los últimos años. La huelga tomará lugar el el día de hoy en el centro de Dublín y se espera que atraiga a distribuidores, profesores, padres y familiares.
Marian Quinn de la Asociación de Profesionales de la Infancia dice que la situación es crónica:
Tenemos un 23%, un 24% en términos de rotación de personal… y si acude a servicios que son únicamente guarderías completas, la rotación de personal es superior al 45%, lo que representa casi uno de cada dos.
Low pay is a big problem for providers and professionals.
This has led to a recruitment and retention crisis that is undermining the sustainability of services.
